Savory Bread

I am on a roll baking of late. I got this recipe to make savory muffins from a friend, and eggless too, and I had to try this right away!!

The recipe is here. I used whole wheat flour and skipped the buillion powder. We had this on Sunday for breakfast. V and I had it with some curd and it was absolute yumm.

A friend who visited my dad bought a whole lot oranges. So, I decided to bake these orange-chocolate muffins.

The whole house smelt absolutely divine when this was being baked, so yummy citrus-y!! V could not wait till it cooled and had one while it was still warm. Her reaction was the best reward.

I am planning to invest in a cutter for cutting felt. The model of cutter I found on amazon is this

This is a fiskars one, Fiskars 9521 45mm Contour Rotary Cutter.

Are there other models which are more appropriate to use for cutting felt? The purpose is to be able to use felt to mount finished projects. I have seen others have cut out felt in wavy patterns. Should I also order different blades to be able to do that? Need your help please

On the stitchy end, here is where I am currently with August

I have replaced the red with orange. Will give the exact shade details in my next post. Am planning to frog out the red's in the flowers also and use orange instead. The cottages have given me a lot of confidence to play around and experiment. I would never have been able to go out of my comfort zone had it not been for you all. Thank you all dear friends, for your constant support :)

With this I wind up for the day. Till next time.. Take care.. Be happy.. Keep stitching.. Au Revoir

Candies anyone??

Pongal just went by. For some reason this year I was not in the mood to put an elaborate rangoli, like every year. Usually we (in the apartment), would start rangolis outside our respective flats around 10pm on Bhogi and finish only by about 1am the next day, amidst lots of chatting. A very noisy night it would be, but great fun.
This year, not much of it though. So, I gave the entire task of rangoli to V.

She was absolutely thrilled. I just helped her with putting the basic kolam and she did the coloring.

The next new recipe I tried this time was a salted caramel. I have this great weakness for anything chewy, fudgy.. I also bought a candy thermometer last year, which I have been meaning to use much earlier. Well, time did come finally last week.
The caramels came out soooo well. Even my dad, who has NEVER admitted to any dish being tasty, said it tasted like parry's eclairs!!! Yay for that

August is coming out quite fast. I will post a picture very soon, when it is complete.

Till then my dear friends.. Take care.. Be happy.. Keep stitching.. Au Revoir

First cottage

Here I am with my first "finish" in 2013!! Well, this time a proper finish.

Jan is finally up on time.

I wanted a calendar. While contemplating on various ideas to assemble one, a friend suggested a memory board. So, here is a mix of a calendar and a memory board.I am quite happy with the way this has turned out.

There was another ornament that I finished for my friend Meari last year. Thank you Meari for your constant encouragement.

This was my first ever finish as a mounted ornament. I am definitely happy with the overall finish, but I think I could have done a better job. I used a variegated blue thread. Unfortunately I do not have the code. I have a leaning towards blue-n-white. So, used this on a 28ct linen. The pattern I used is a freebie from here.

That's it from me today my dear friends. Thank you very much for your kind comments on my earlier post :)

Till next time.. Take care.. Be happy.. Keep stitching.. Au Revoir

Flashback - 2012

I am a little late in posting this, but that's ok. Just thought I'd do a quick recap of the finishes and WIPs in 2012.

What a year it has been, with respect to my finishes. I really have never achieved so much ever before. 7 cottage finishes, whole lot of beading, lots of baking... WOW!! Am impressed with myself. Again, my dear friends, it is all thanks to your encouragement.

Now, let me show you my cottages

And this is where sea-shells stands as of date.

I have not worked on it since last August I think!! Gosh, did not realize it's been that long. Should pick it up again.

So, you know my new year target now. To finish all cottages and seashells by end of 2013!!! That's a huge one, by my standards. Wish me luck

With this I take leave today friends. Till next time.. Take care.. Be happy.. Keep stitching.. Au Revoir
